Ukraine is Europe is a humanitarian non-profit organization defined under French and European law, based in France, Schiltigheim. Our aim is to support Ukrainians people affected by the war, both within Europe and Ukraine. In this purpose we have launched four different programs to support Ukrainian people: mobile clinics, humanitarian supplies, energy access and now reintegration of Ukrainians refugees in Ukraine. Our missions mostly come from the demand of the Ukrainian government or its people, since our main preoccupation is to meet the needs of the Ukrainians, listen to them and answer them.
Initially our organization was created in 2022 as a response to the russian’s invasion and war launched on the territory of Ukraine, to help the Ukrainians people that was suffering from it. We quickly responded from a logistic emergency case by sending humanitarian convoys and ambulances to the most affected areas and its vulnerable people (especially children, elderly, and their pets). Since then, we have been deeply moved by the gratitude of the Ukrainians people and have witnessed the tangible effectiveness of our efforts which had kept us moving to further commitments.
Therefore, we had the opportunity to grow our team and multiply the fields of our projects until our most recent program that is concerning the re-integration of Ukrainians refugees within Europe to their motherland. To this day our organization is counting more than 60 volunteers from all around the world including French and Ukrainian people. Since April 2023, we are also recognized as a Public Interest Entity and therefore any donation is qualified for a 66% tax deduction.
Our association acts directly on the ground, in the border and liberated areas by Ukraine. As a result, we have precise information on the ground regarding the needs of civilian populations in the most sensitive areas of Ukraine. Therefore, since the beginning of the conflict, we have been striving to send 1 convoy every 2 weeks to Ukraine. Our association acts directly on the ground, in the border and liberated areas by Ukraine.
Following the Russian invasion, a migratory movement of temporary displaced persons has emerged in Ukraine, leading to significant inequalities in access to education. Indeed, hundreds of thousands of children have been forced to resort to online learning. Unfortunately, many temporary displaced persons had to leave their homes in haste and were unable to bring their electronic devices with them, finding themselves now financially unable to acquire the necessary electronic equipment to participate in online education.
Initially, we collected donations in France, which allowed the purchase and delivery of ambulances for the evacuation of war wounded and disabled people as well as the transport of children. These ambulances are driven to Ukraine directly by our members and volunteers. Once the distribution of humanitarian aid was done, these ambulances were given to Ukrainian civil hospitals in need in the regions of Eastern Ukraine and in the combat zones.
In October 2022, the Russian federation started to attack continuously for all the winter, the energy infrastructures of Ukraine causing a disaster in terms of access to electricity and heat for the most vulnerable civilian populations. Therefore, we received a large number of requests from civil institutions such as orphanages, hospitals or temporary displacement centers to palliate the energy access situation.
The centers aim to welcome and reintegrate Ukrainians who have chosen to return to the national territory after fleeing Ukraine. Our association intends to tackle this task, by opening its first reintegration center in Dnipro with a reintegration capacity of 2500 people per year, in order to accompany them in the search for social housing, work and administrative and psychological support essential to start a new life in the best conditions.
